Are you Bamboozled by Bills?

Are you bamboozled by bills? Don’t fear, SwitchMy is here.

Here is a fast guide for you to find out the most important information in your businesses’ gas and electricity bills.

Step 1
Find your contract end date
Find your contract end date – you don’t want to switch until you contract is up in order to avoid termination penalties. Put this date in your calendar with a reminder 6 months before – you can search and organise a switch from this date. 1
Step 2
Find what you are being charged
Pence per kWhour for what you consume and often a standing charge per day.  2
Step 3
Check out what period you are being billed for

Check out what period you are being billed for, sometimes monthly, sometimes quarterly.

 3
Step 4
Estimate your annual consumption
You can now estimate your annual consumption by multiplying the quarter or month. Note that this is a loose estimation that you might want to adjust. For instance, you are likely to use more gas in winter for heating. BUT – the important comparison is the pence per kWhour.  4
Step 5
Check for any additional charges
So called green taxed such as Feed-in tariff are usually included in your pence per kWhour charge when quoted but check. The Climate Change Levy is normally excluded from the unit rate but should be the same for all suppliers. 5
Step 6
Identify your unique meter reference point
This is called an MPAN for electricity and MPR for gas. 6
Step 7
Now you’re equipped to compare prices!
Check out other deals on the market by asking for quotes from energy suppliers or use an energy broker to do the work for you. 7

By following these 7 simple steps you should be in a better position to determine the most important information in your businesses’ gas and electricity bills and hopefully save your business more money.
